Finding electric vehicle (EV) chargers near hiking trails can be challenging due to the remote location of many trailheads. Luckily, there are some state parks and nearby towns in Oregon that have EV chargers near incredible places to recreate outside. Check out some of the 10 best hikes in Oregon near EV chargers so you can make sure to be fully charged to get home after an epic day of hiking in the Pacific Northwest!

Trail of Ten Falls, Silver Falls State Park 

The Trail of Ten Falls in Silver Falls State Park is a beautiful hiking experience through the temperate rainforest in Oregon. This 7.2-mile loop trail takes you past ten breathtaking waterfalls, each with its own unique charm. The trail winds through moss-covered canyons, offering opportunities to get up close to these stunning falls, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and waterfall lovers. This is a great destination for hiking in Oregon if you have an electric vehicle since there are four Rivian Waypoint Level 2 chargers in the South Falls day-use parking lot right next to the trailhead to charge up while you are hiking.

Eel Lake Trail, William M. Tugman State Park

The Eel Lake Trail in William M. Tugman State Park by Winchester Bay is a picturesque hiking experience along the southern coast of Oregon at Eel Lake. This 6.1 mile out and back trail offers hikers a chance to immerse themselves in the lush coastal forests while enjoying beautiful lakes. With relatively easy terrain and abundant birdwatching, Eel Lake Trail is the perfect choice for a hike while visiting Oregon Sand Dunes National Monument. There are two Rivian Waypoint Level 2 chargers located in the day use parking lot so you can conveniently charge your electric vehicle while you are hiking. 

Misery Ridge, Smith Rock State Park

Misery Ridge in Smith Rock State Park is a challenging hike that provides breathtaking views of the Crooked River winding through towering rock formations. This 3.7-mile loop trail includes steep ascents and descents, rocky terrain, and a fun opportunity to watch rock climbers on different routes throughout the state park. As you climb along the ridge, enjoy panoramic views of Smith’s iconic spires and views of the Cascades of Central Oregon in the distance. The city of Redmond is located only ten minutes away and has public EVCS chargers including a Level 2 charger and a Level 3 (limited to 50kW) at the local Fred Meyer. 

Mirror Lake, Mount Hood National Forest

Mirror Lake, located in Government Camp, is one of the most popular hikes near Mount Hood. The 3.5-mile round-trip trail takes you through a lush ponderosa pine alpine forest and leads to the Mirror Lake, which beautifully reflects Mount Hood on clear days. This is a fantastic way to enjoy the incredible views of the majestic mountain. There is an EVCS Level 2 and an EVCS Level 3 charger (limited to 50kW) near Government Camp at Mt. Hood Skibowl, but beware, these chargers are plagued with reliability issues. Six Level 2 chargers can be found at the Mt. Hood Meadows Main Base parking lot. 

Cape Lookout Trail, Cape Lookout State Park

The Cape Lookout Trail is a captivating coastal hike along the rugged cliffs of Cape Lookout State Park. The 5.2 mile round trip trail offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and stunning panoramas of the coastline. Located south of Tillamook and north of Pacific City, this is the perfect place to spend the day hiking out to Cape Lookout and enjoying the nearby beach. Charge up your EV at the two Rivian Waypoint Level 2 chargers in the day-use area parking lot near the Cape Lookout campground. 

Banks-Vernonia State Trail, L.L Stub Stewart State Park

Located 45 minutes from Portland, the Banks-Vernonia State Trail in LL Stub Stewart State Park is the perfect place to take a slow stroll along a converted rail trail. A popular trail for cyclists and walkers, this is the perfect escape from the city for an easy trail in nature that spans 21 miles through lush Oregon forest and farmlands. Plug in your electric vehicle at one of the three Rivian Waypoint Level 2 chargers at the L.L Stub Stewart State Park Welcome Center. 

Cleetwood Cove Trail, Crater Lake National Park

The Cleetwood Cove Trail in Crater Lake National Park is a unique hiking trail that leads you down a steep path to the shore of Crater Lake. This 2.2 mile round trip trail offers an opportunity to take in the breathtaking scenery of the deepest lake in the United States. The deep blue waters are crystal clear and hikers can take a cold plunge in the pristine waters on a hot summer day. Two Level 2 chargers are located in Mazama Village right outside of Crater Lake National Park at Annie Creek Restaurant & Gift Shop.

Chimney Rock Trail, Prineville Reservoir State Park 

Chimney Rock Trail in Central Oregon is a short 2.7 mile hike that provides panoramic views of Prineville Reservoir and the surrounding landscapes. The trail is known for its unique geological features, including Chimney Rock at the end of the trail. This is a great hike to enjoy with the entire family since it’s a relatively easy, short hike and is a great way to explore the high desert of Oregon. There are two Rivian Waypoint Level 2 chargers for electric vehicles located in the side lot next to the main day-use parking area of Prineville Reservoir.

Latourell Falls Loop Hike, Columbia River Gorge

One of the most popular hikes in the Columbia River Gorge is the Latourell Falls Loop due to its stunning moss and lichen coated rock and waterfalls. This is a quintessential Pacific Northwest hike due to the beauty of the gorge and the lush vegetation throughout the forest. The trail is an easy 2.3 mile hike and is a short drive away from famous Multnomah Falls. There’s an EVCS Level 2 charger in Cascade Locks. Located less than an hour from Portland, this is a great day trip to enjoy nature and a quick trip in your Tesla or Rivian.

Tam-a-láu Trail, Lake Billy Chinook

Another one of the best 10 hikes in Oregon near EV chargers is the Tam-a-láu Trail at Lake Billy Chinook. The trail is a scenic and moderate hike that winds its way along the rugged cliffs of the lake. This is another beautiful hike in the high desert canyons of Oregon and provides views of the stunning lake below. Enjoy the 7.1 mile journey through the towering cliffs and picturesque vistas. Make sure to charge up at one of the two Rivian Waypoint Level 2 chargers at the Crooked River day-use parking lot in Cove Palisades State Park.
